GBTA Ladders connects corporate travel leaders with rising stars in the industry to facilitate collaboration and mentorship. The program focuses on talent development, providing opportunities for education, growth, and building your network through a unique team-based approach. Veteran GBTA Ladders Mentor, Marc Casto (President & CEO, Casto Travel), will discuss the program and why mentorship is important especially in the corporate travel industry. Marc will be joined by former Ladders Mentee, Allison Davis (Marketing Communications Manager, Ultramar Travel Management), who now serves as Co-Program Director on the Ladders Leadership team. As a mentee, Allison’s team was the ultimate winner of the presentation challenge for the 2015/16 season of GBTA Ladders, and she’ll deliver her team’s winning presentation on Diagnosing Travel Culture to showcase the kind of fresh, valuable content that is cultivated within the program.

Diagnosing Travel Culture

Recent data suggests that more than half of travel managers are interested in introducing the Total Cost of Travel topic – based on the idea that traveler wear and tear should be factored into corporate travel costs – within their organizations. But corporate travel programs are extensive and complex, and each organization has its own unique set of goals, so how can travel managers begin to effectively gauge the human impact of travel within their organizations in a way that’s accessible and actionable?

In this presentation from the GBTA Ladders 2015/16 season winning team, attendees will learn about a new approach to this challenge. Allison Davis will explain the importance and implications of organizational travel culture and the approach and tools her team developed for identifying and gauging that variable within an organization. Ultimately, travel managers who are interested in introducing a Total Cost of Travel approach will be empowered to begin taking action.
