Please Meet Norma Tomkinson, BABTA Board of Directors

Catching up with Norma Tomkinson..? Not as easy as it sounds! Norma spends a lot of her time traveling, walking her dog, and reading. And when she is not doing that she is providing account support and business solutions for her airline customers as senior account executive-airlines for Marriott’s Western Mountain Pacific Region. With 39 years of travel industry experience, Norma has been a BABTA member for 5 years.
If that wasn't enough, she was asked to consider running for a BABTA Board of Directors position 3 years ago and thought that this was something that she had always wanted to do but could not commit the time due to her heavy travel schedule. But now, things were different. She could see herself balancing job commitments with time to participate in monthly board meetings and supporting the chapter that she felt had provided value to the industry.
So with her great industry experience and enthusiasm, Norma ran for election and then became VP of Administration. She is glad she did! She said "The best parts of my board experience include the fabulous people I have been able to get to know and work with. I now have a better understanding of what it takes to help run a non-profit association. There is impact with my opinion regarding things like finances, business decisions, creating value for membership and more!" Norma has just ended her term on the board.
"2015 will be a great year of change for BABTA, in a very good way! We have 6 new board members and I am excited about that. I know that they will bring new energy and ideas to help BABTA evolve and become an even better and more effective organization than it is today." adding that "It is the Board's to make sure we are bringing value to the members and communicate the benefits of membership. There are many places to spend your budget and BABTA needs to earn the opportunity to be that person's choice."
